ZTE Axon was announced and release late in 2015 and the phone made waves in the smartphone industry. It came along with flagship specifications at a price which would leave the other flagships with their mouths open. ZTE has also announced their flagship from the Nubia series which is supposedly going to have the most powerful Snapdragon chipset. They are trying to strike while the iron is still hot and are coming up with really awesome phones and that too at a reasonable price considering the price of other flagships.
ZTE also has a few other things in mind apart from the ZTE Axon 2. Their CEO recently revealed that the Axon 2 would come with a really high-end 2K display from SHARP. The display has higher contrast ratio, lower power consumption, a wider color gamut, and a faster response time. This is, according to him, far more superior than the panels used on other rival flagships. He believes that the next big thing is VR and it is best to have a 2K resolution for VR due to the closeness of the eye with the display. It ensures crisp details and really high-quality visuals.
Apart from the high-end 2K display, the ZTE Axon 2 will come with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chipset, the Snapdragon 820. This is a major boost from the ZTE Axon which came with the Snapdragon 801, last October. ZTE Axon 2 comes with double the memory and storage that Axon had. There is a massive 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. There was no external SD card slot for the Axon, but that has been given a place in the Axon 2. Storage can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD.
The phone comes with Android Marshmallow out of the box. This doesn’t come as a surprise because flagships releasing this year are bound to come with Android M. Not only that, the next iteration of Android is also in the works, and it might come out soon. ZTE has always received praise for their cameras and Axon 2 will not be an exception. It comes with a massive 20MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. The 20MP camera is capable of taking 2K videos which is a huge plus considering the 2K display of the phone. There is a USB Type-C connector as well as a decently large 3,140mAh battery to provide the much-needed juice. The phone is expected to be announced in the following weeks.
